I recently got a set of Willie & Max standard-size slant saddlebags for my girl, about the largest I think that will fit on the Savage. The only problem was, I really didn't care for the cheesy nylon lacing that tied the two of them together.
I took a trip to a local tack shop (as in real horse-type stuff), and found some perfect studs to use instead (the lady there refered to them as "Chicago screws" -- never heard that term before). Anyway, I plopped 10 of them in the holes. They look *great* and hold the bags much more securely together than the string ever did. And all for only two dollars! Talk about a good deal!

PS-- I finally got a catalog from Helimot (thanks, Knud), but the only Held bags they distribute here in the US are nylon. Doesn't fit the Savage style.
